Average US movie ticket prices grew from about 6.40 dollars in 2005 to over 11 by 2023 as theatre operators raised prices to offset declining attendance. US pizza-restaurant spending grew from about 30 to over 50 billion dollars in the same window as delivery apps, fast-casual chains, and inflation lifted unit prices. Two completely unrelated lines sharing a window because the same eighteen years inflated both a movie-ticket benchmark and a pizza-category aggregate. Different aisles, same evening.
