Stack Overflow questions per year peaked around 2014 and have declined sharply since 2022, accelerated by GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and the broader LLM coding-assistant wave that absorbed the simple how-do-I queries the site once thrived on. The negative correlation reflects two opposite responses to the AI moment: physics scaled up; the Q&A site got bypassed. Same machinery, different consequences.
