As global data creation has exploded, Tesla deliveries have exploded, a correlation of 0.983 that connects zettabytes to electric vehicles with the exponential confidence of two curves that both discovered the hockey stick shape at the same time. Global data grew from about 15 to over 120 zettabytes between 2015 and 2023. Tesla deliveries grew from about 50,000 to over 1.8 million. Both are exponential growth curves in the digital economy. Teslas are among the most data-intensive consumer products—each vehicle generates about 25 gigabytes of data per hour—making this correlation partially a part-whole relationship: Tesla data is a measurable subset of global data creation.

Nine years of global data and Tesla is a correlation that borders on real: Tesla vehicles generate enormous quantities of data, and that data is counted in global totals. The car drives, the data streams, and the chart records a relationship that is partly arithmetic. The cloud expands, the fleet grows, and the zettabytes include the telemetry.
