Countries with legal same-sex marriage grew from about 25 in 2017 to over 35 by 2024 as legislative and judicial decisions in Latin America, Asia, and the EU expanded recognition. Taylor Swift's annual Spotify streams roughly quintupled in the same window as her catalogue compounded through the re-recordings, Midnights, and the Eras Tour. Two completely unrelated cultural and political lines sharing a window because the same six years rewarded both an institutional-recognition trend and a single artist's catalogue scale.

Two different markets opened up. The legislature and the playlist, both more inclusive.
