Netflix original titles released per year

Forbes' count of Chinese billionaires and the count of Netflix original titles released each year, both climbing through the late 2010s. Two completely unrelated industries growing fast in the same decade. Both lists got longer than the editors expected.

Forbes' Chinese billionaires count rose from about 168 in 2013 to over 600 by 2020 as China's tech and property booms minted fortunes, before recent downturns trimmed the list. Netflix originals expanded from a few dozen to hundreds of titles per year as the streaming wars demanded volume. Two completely unrelated lines sharing a window because the same eleven years happened to be a particularly fast period for both Chinese wealth concentration and global content commissioning.

Two lists got longer in the same decade. The Forbes editor and the Netflix commissioner both stayed busy.
