Amazon revenue and American candle sales, climbing together for nearly two decades. The candle is being bought on Amazon. The Amazon shareholder is, statistically, also burning the candle. The system, again, completes itself.
Amazon's annual revenue grew from about 8.5 billion dollars in 2005 to over 575 billion by 2022 as the company expanded from books to everything, including a substantial home-fragrance category. US candle market revenue grew steadily across the same window thanks to the home-fragrance and self-care category expansion. The relationship here is partly causal: a meaningful chunk of candle sales now happens through Amazon. Two markets growing together because one is, in part, a tributary of the other.
Sometimes correlation is just one industry's distribution channel becoming the other industry. The shelf and the marketplace, partially the same.
