Standing-desk adoption grew from a small minority of US adults in 2010 to a meaningful workplace category by 2022 as the sit-is-the-new-smoking discourse and IKEA Bekant lowered the cost of entry. Tracked orbital debris grew from about 14,500 catalogued objects in 2010 to over 26,000 by 2022, with the 2021 Russian ASAT test adding a noticeable bump. Two completely unrelated lines sharing a window because the same twelve years happened to be productive for both a workplace preference and the accumulation of dead spacecraft.

Two completely different domains both filled up. The office and the orbit, both crowded.
