Spam emails sent per day worldwideObjects launched into Earth orbit per year
Worldwide orbital launches and global spam volume, both at numbers a 2015 reader would have called arithmetically impossible. Two enormous infrastructures expanding for completely unrelated reasons. The sky and the inbox both got crowded.
Orbital launches grew from about 90 in 2015 to over 220 by 2023 as SpaceX's reusable Falcon 9 cadence and the Starlink constellation drove the launch rate to historic levels. Global spam email volume grew from about 100 to over 320 billion messages per day in the same window as bots scaled and authentication standards lagged adoption. Two completely unrelated lines sharing a window because the same eight years scaled both orbital throughput and automated-message volume. Different industries, same era of compounding.
Two graphs of crowd. The sky and the inbox both filled up. Neither shows much sign of decompressing.
